R&H Hall
A Docklands Memory
The vast structure of R & H Hall was for decades one of the most distinctive and historic landmarks in the Cork Docklands. Built in the early 20th century, this immense building, with its rows of reinforced concrete silos, served as the port’s primary grain storage and milling facility. It played a vital role in Ireland’s commercial life, processing imported grain and symbolizing Cork’s powerful maritime trade and industrial heritage. Sadly, the structure was demolished in the last few years to make way for new development. Today, while physically absent from the skyline, R & H Hall remains a powerful memory of the docklands’ past and a point of reference for the area’s ongoing regeneration.
