Cork’s Quirky Suspension Span

Spanning the River Lee at Lower Sunday’s Well, Cork’s only suspension bridge is a truly eye-catching feature that beautifully enhances the city’s riverside vista. Dating from the 1920s, the bridge is primarily constructed of wrought iron and features a distinctive timber-planked walkway across its 150-foot span.

Officially named for James Daly, a businessman who helped fund its construction, the bridge is widely and affectionately known throughout Cork City as the “Shakey Bridge”—a name that perfectly captures its delightful and slightly bouncy character when crossed!
